Media Training

For the Pros: Players and coaches expand their career opportunities by creating a positive personal image. They make the most of pre, halftime, and post game interviews. In fact, a 90 second clip in front of the camera can drastically change your marketability. Why not arm yourself with the tools to make the most out of your interviews. During a Sports Talkers Media Training session, you learn effective messaging for all game situations:

  • blow outs
  • shut outs
  • your career best and worst
  • getting drafted
  • traded
  • retirement
  • issues affecting the league or sport

Back to school: Sports Talkers offers "media training 101" for college teams, as well. Schools count on their athletic teams to create a positive school image for fans, prospective students and boosters. Helping your student athletes understand the basics about media interviews, and how to comment on their performance with grace and sportsmanship can do a world of good for your sports program.

Tips:
  • Know the interviewer and BE PREPARED!
  • Look at the reporter.
  • Practice the Golden Rule and stay positive.

Spokesperson Training

Anyone can chug a drink on camera. But can your image attract the general public to get them to buy more of the product, or more importantly, try it for the first time? Or, have you been asked to make an appearance at a community event at the request of the league or your team? With Sports Talkers Spokesperson training, you'll experience a series of sessions where you will:

  • Experience advanced media training
  • Receive basic presentation coaching to effectively connect with your audience
  • Practice reading with expression
  • Master pacing and inflection in your delivery
  • Interact with others on camera
  • Make your own demo tape to promote yourself

In sports, you may play only one position; but in pursuing endorsements and spokesperson roles, that will never work! Versatility is the name of the game. We'll work to help you become the "decathlete of endorsements and promotions."

Tips:
  • Make eye contact and give a firm hand shake. Don't forget the BIG smile!
  • Articulate, enunciate, communicate!
  • Maintain your image.

Sportscaster Training

Roll the videotape! You've had a successful career and you're starting to think about what to do next. This comprehensive series of sessions combines all Sports Talkers offerings. Begin this series of one-on-one sessions with media training basics, we'll examine your image and brand, then it's time to practice, practice, practice.

  • Work with video, can you call the same play three different ways?
  • You've spent years answering questions, how will you do when it's time to start asking them? We'll find out.
  • Then, let's put it all together for a demo reel to show broadcasting executives your skills as the next great sports television personality.

Why have only one career in sports when you can have two?

Tips:
  • Practice. Practice. Practice.
  • Be entertaining and informative.
  • How many ways can you describe the same play?
